Oops! In all my excitement, I woke the children! Well, that was a short nap.
I just hung up from speaking with our case worker at Carolina Hope- we qualify for their Azerbaijan program!!!! I ended up flooding him with a thousand questions. That poor man. I'm sure he thought he was just going to be making a simple phone call. That poor man, by the way, was the nicest person and made me feel so glad we've chosen Carolina Hope. Anyway, can you tell how hard it is for me to be sitting still and typing instead of dancing?! Okay. To try to recap, he said our finances looked secure enough. The facilitator's concern with us is our motive for adopting. Why, if we already have three, are we adopting? I explained my heart condition and our inability to get pregnant again. He said that absolutely meant Azerbaijan would let us adopt one of their children- we would just have to make that very clear in our homestudy. So, yet another clear reason why God allowed that into our lives so He can bring this little girl to us! C.H. said we can begin our homestudy immediately. I asked if we could be endangering our adoption by posting the donation information on our blog (I've heard of other countries frowning on such things), and he said he would check with C.H.'s director and get her opinion. I asked if Azeri orphanges tried to preserve any family history for the children and he explained that even if they had information, it would not get passed on to us because we are not citizens. And, he thinks (and this is very much just based on his experience- not something we can truly depend on) we should have about a 12 month old referred to us. I asked about the length of the process as well. He said it should not take longer than 15-16 months but should be closer to 12 months. Are you hearing me???? All this means that this is really happening and we will be bringing our little girl home around this time next year!!!! Wahooooooooo!!!!!! Let the paperwork truly begin!

This is great news for you and for this precious little girl that the Lord will be placing in your lives.
We'll be praying that you see the Lord's hand in the steps of the adoption process.
Congratulations! I am so excited for you both. It's only the beginning, but I'll pray the end comes quickly and that little girl is in your arms before you know it. You realize that if it truly take 12 months that your little girl is a newborn right now???
