Trying to Prepare

I've been surfing the net tonight trying to learn about sensory delays, sensory processing disorder, and sensory integration disorder. I am a complete newbie with this topic, but they all seem like the same issue- just different names. My understanding is that a fair number of orphans struggle with this due to lack of stimulation while in the orphanage. They are left in their cribs not interacting with their environment like they would normally in a healthy family. Anyway, after reading for a while tonight, I just feel sad for these children. We pray everyday that someone in our daughter's orphanage loves on her by hugging or tickling her. Will you please join us in this prayer? Also, please pray that there is someone in her life there that she is bonding with. As painful as it will be to separate her from that person in order to being her home, it is far healthier for her in the long run for her to learn to bond and attach to our family- and the easier it will be to teach her to bond and attach to our God. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of our little girl.

I just finished the required 8 hours of online training offered through the NCFA and am also sad about this. So hard to think of children just being ignored. But, also hard to imagine 1 person caring for 20 infants. I will be praying for your little girl. You can pray for the children God is preparing for our family! :o) And we can trust that God is in the midst of the situation. Praise be!

Madeline has Sensory Processing Disorder (the new "name" of Sensory Integration Disorder because it was getting confused with SIDS I guess). E-mail me with any questions you might have.
